The association Amis de l'îlot de La Boisselle was founded to help preserve this section of the western front; both on the surface and underground, its vestiges bear vibrant witness to the French, German and British soldiers who fought there during the First World War.
On 14 December 2013, a 50-year agreement was signed with the owners of the îlot site to assist the association in its aims.
The Friends take an active part in the regular cleaning and upkeep of the site so that visitors can see for themselves the traces of the First World War.
The members of the association relate the history of the îlot through visits (by appointment) and in exceptional cases opening the site throughout the year.
The Friends organise commemorative ceremonies and cultural events in partnership with other associations, to pass on the memory of those who fought there.
